Frequently Asked Questions

When are practices?  Practices are 1 hour, 1 day a week (no practices on Tues. 6:30-8, Wed., Sat., & Sun)

How are teams made? We assign teams based on the following criteria.

1. The skill level of each player to make competitive teams.

2. The 1 day you put on the form that you are NOT able to practice.

3. Have the whole family practice on the least number of nights.

Can my child be on the same team as their friend? Our goal is a great experience for everyone and you and your child will make many new friends. Due to the size of our league and the complexity of team making we are not able to take into consideration any friend requests or carpooling needs. If you must be with friends or need carpooling, consider coaching with the other parent.

When are games?  Games are every Saturday with the youngest division going first at about 9AM, and then the oldest division at the end.  Each game lasts 1 hour and the youngest divisions play 2 games at a time.

Where are games and practices?  All games and practices are in our Oakfield Baptist Sports Facility.

What equipment do I need to buy for my child?  Your registration covers a t-shirt with their name and number on the back.  You will need to have appropriate shorts, socks, and clean inside shoes. (Outside or dirty shoes are NOT ALLOWED on the gym floor.) Please put your name in any clothing that might be removed.

What is Evaluation Day? Every player (including those on the waitlist) MUST come in to check information, get an accurate shirt size, and go through a couple skills evaluations. It takes about 10 minutes for each player and you can come any time between 10-noon on that day. Any changes to your information must be made by that day, as teams will be made based on it and will be final when they are announced.

Are boys and girls on the same teams?  Yes. We do our best to put an equal number on each team and match them on the court.

Is this league just for Oakfield Baptist Church members? No.  Everyone is welcome!  If you are looking for a church home we would love to have you visit us sometime.

How is this league different?  We really try to achieve our goal of teaching competitive skills while using the Bible to encourage positive sportsmanship and character development.  Your child will learn Bible verses and apply them to their life on and off the court.   We are a family friendly league that grandparents love!

What are the age divisions?  We make our divisions based on registrations.  But generally we try to keep it: 4-5yrs / 1-2nd / 3rd-4th / 5th-6th /7th-12th

Where do we get our coaches? Our coaches are primarily parents. We require that our coaches all know Jesus Christ as their Savior and are active in their local church. Every potential coach will go through an interview process with Pastor Chris and must pass a background check. There is also a 3 hour training class for all coaches before each season. When possible we will pair up new coaches with veteran coaches for their first season.

What happens if my child is on a waiting list? To ensure a good experience for everyone there is a cap for every team and division. We go by registration order regardless of other factors. We will notify you if your child is currently on a waiting list and if they are moved into an open spot. If a spot does not open for your child you have the choice of a full refund or we can secure your spot in the next sports season (any of our sports).

Any other questions please call the church or e-mail Pastor Chris.
